“Festival is well organized and
this was evident from the brilliance of inaugural ceremony”, opined Kamal,
noted Malayalam director, while speaking in press conference conducted as part
of the 18th IFFK. The festival should provide more screen space for
Malayalam films as this is the film feast of Kerala, he added.
Kamal also spoke about his film
‘Celluloid’, which is a tribute to the father of Malayalam Cinema JC Daniel.
Celluloid is part of the festival in the ‘Malayalam Cinema Today’ category.
Film critic and curator, Meenakshi
Shedde also attended the press conference. Shedde explained the importance of
the films in ‘Expressionism, The Indo German Connection’ category. There was a
great connection between the films of both nations which lasted over a many
years but difficult to trace at present. And these films are an attempt to make this
connection explored and understand by the new generation of cinema lovers, said
Shedde.

Priyadarshan and Festival Artistic Director Bina Paul also attended the press
conference.
