Indian industry is rich with human resource: Shabana Azmi

Cinema is director’s medium and theatre is actor’s, said Shabana Azmi while talking in the first In conversation program organized in connection with 18th IFFK.
“I enjoy working in both mainstream and art house cinema” she said. She explained that it was her approach to cinema as a student that kept her going passionately over the 40 years of her career.
My acting remains more appreciated in art house cinema than main stream because of their excellent portrayal of reality, Shabana Azmi added. She also opined that Indian Cinema is rich in human resource. Vidya Balan, Konkona Sen Sharma, Tabu are brilliant actors of this generation,  she answered in reply to a question.
The Actor-Parliamentarian-Activist also shared her fondness towards Malayalam industry and said would do Malayalam films only after learning the language.
Jamini of ‘Khander’ remains close to me among all my characters, she opened her mind. She concluded saying that watching as many films possible is the biggest exercise for a film student
She also recited few lines of ‘Aurat’ a poem written by her father, Kaifi Azmi on request from the audience.
The release of Book ‘Taking Cinema: Conversation with Actors and Filmmakers’ written by Film Journalist Bhawana Sommaya was also carried out by Shabana Azmi by handing over the first copy of the book to Film Director R Sharath.
